Speed Hunters – Ferrari 360 Modena
iPE x Speedhunters – Project 360:
An 8,500 RPM Singing Lesson with iPE Exhaust.
“If you’ve ever listened to Cardi B speak, you’ll know that simply adding volume doesn’t equate to a better sound being produced. [B]ut for cars at least the solution is far simpler: an iPE exhaust system.” - Mark Roccini
Established in 2008, the Speedhunters is a group of passionate photographers, writers and owners who have a shared passion for uncovering the world’s most exciting car culture stories. Sharing stories from personal experiences with DIY projects to stories of car communities, and motorsport events from around the world.
The collaboration between iPE and Speedhunters began when Mark Riccioni’s Ferrari 360 Modena started having problems. The foam inside the fuel tank started to degrade into small pieces. In order to resolve this issue, Mark had to switch out the fuel pumps, disassemble the engine bay covers, shielding, as well as the exhaust manifolds. This is when he had an idea to upgrade the exhaust system as well.
The Ferrari 360 Modena was introduced back in 1999 at the Geneva Motor Show. It is equipped with a 3.6 litre naturally aspirated V8 engine that revs up to 8,500 RPM, paired with an F1 gearbox, “It should scream like an opera singer being kicked in the testes.” However, this particular Ferrari was sounding nothing like it.
“If you’ve ever listened to Cardi B speak, you’ll know that simply adding volume doesn’t equate to a better sound being produced. I don’t have the power to solve that issue – nor does anyone in the world – but for cars at least the solution is far simpler: an iPE exhaust system.” - Mark Roccini
The shape and tube diameter of iPE exhaust systems are designed and engineered to not only refine the engine note but also maximize the volume through manipulating the exhaust flow; creating the iconic iPE high-pitched scream.
