Introducing The New Exhaust System for the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS (992.2)
Developed specifically for Porsche’s latest T-Hybrid platform, the new iPE system combines enhanced sound, optimized exhaust flow, dedicated thermal protection, precise e-Turbo integration, and significant weight reduction.
iPE is proud to introduce its new exhaust system for the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS (992.2), developed around the unique requirements of Porsche’s latest T-Hybrid powertrain and electrically assisted turbocharger.
The complete system consists of newly developed catted or catless downpipes, a lightweight valve-controlled catback system, optional Valve Fully Open Module, and iPE 3D exhaust tips.
Optimized Downpipe Design
For the 992.2 GTS, iPE redesigned the downpipe with an optimized pipe diameter and catalyst volume to create a more direct exhaust path and allow more of the engine’s natural exhaust character to be heard.
The catted version features a single-piece 200-cell catalytic converter. Compared with the larger dual-substrate catalyst configurations commonly used in aftermarket systems, the iPE single-piece layout provides a more open exhaust path while retaining a catted configuration.
For drivers looking for the most unrestricted setup, a catless downpipe is also available.
Precision Integration with the e-Turbo
The 992.2 GTS introduces Porsche’s electrically assisted turbocharger, making precision at the downpipe-to-turbo connection especially important.
The iPE downpipe inlet is engineered to closely match the dimensions and connection geometry of the original component, ensuring accurate alignment and fitment with the factory e-Turbo assembly.
By maintaining the factory interface and connection accuracy, the system is designed to integrate properly with the vehicle’s electrically assisted turbocharger hardware.

Dedicated Thermal Protection
Thermal management was another major focus during development.
Under sustained high-load conditions, the 992.2 GTS powertrain can generate significant exhaust temperatures. Heat around the downpipe area can affect nearby underbody wiring, plastic components, and surrounding hardware.
To address this, iPE incorporates dedicated thermal shielding around the downpipe, helping reduce radiant heat transfer and provide additional protection for surrounding components.
Unlocking the Full Exhaust Sound
The 992.2 GTS can also be equipped with the optional iPE Valve Fully Open Module, allowing the exhaust valves to fully open and release more of the system’s acoustic potential.
With the complete catted iPE system installed, measured sound levels reach approximately:
91 dB — Valves Closed
116 dB — Valves Fully Open
The result is a system that remains controlled during normal driving while delivering a significantly stronger and more expressive exhaust note when fully opened.

Lightweight, Refined Catback System
The newly developed catback system further enhances the tone and clarity of the 992.2 GTS while maintaining a comfortable cabin experience during cruising.
The iPE rear section is approximately 41.2% lighter than the factory component, while the complete exhaust system achieves an overall weight reduction of approximately 31.6% compared with the original system.
The catback is designed to minimize unwanted drone and resonance, providing a balance between everyday usability and a more engaging sound when the valves are open.
iPE 3D Exhaust Tips
The system can be completed with iPE’s distinctive 3D exhaust tips, featuring a detailed internal lattice design.
Three finishes are available:
- Silver
- Gold
- Black
